- Crown Alloys Royal 118-T 1/4" Dia X 36" Hard Facing TIG Welding Rod comes in a 5 lb pack and is an ideal choice to armor the cutting teeth as well as gage holding surfaces of rock drill bits. It is used to make overlays whose abrasion resistance surpasses that of any hard facing material. TIG rod is self-fluxing and cuts granite, quartz easily with its larger tungsten-carbide particle sizes. Welding rod is used often where traction and abrasion resistance are needed such as horseshoes, snowmobile runners and tire chains.
